Beginning with Hover Junkers all the way back in 2016, the team at Stress Level Zero has consistently given VR fans a lot to look forward to. At yesterday’s Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, SLZ revealed 90 seconds of gameplay for their new title Bonelab and effectively stole the show.
Their previous title, Boneworks, broke all VR launch records to date when it came out in 2019 and has earned Steam's Best of VR Platinum ranking every year since - 2019, 2020, and 2021. So, expectations were high going into this reveal and it has been wonderful to see the overwhelmingly positive player response to the team's hard work, tenacity, and focus. Bonelab is anticipated to be VR's Most Important Game Yet.
In parallel, next-generation virtual reality gaming devices are now selling through in volume. Last year, Oculus alone sold more VR headsets than Microsoft did Xboxs. According to IDC, YoY sales of VR devices overall rose over 92% in 2021 with annual shipments forecast to reach 50 million units by 2026. Against this, the hard-won investments and learning by SLZ are paying off and the company is exceptionally well positioned to grow with the market.
While all of us at Transcend are excited for fans to learn more about Bonelab and the longer term potential of the Marrow engine, today we celebrate the inspiring dedication of Team SLZ and congratulate them on both the continued popularity of Boneworks and the much anticipated launch of Bonelab!
